Woodside Picnic in the Park
/Lymington and Pennington Town Council and Lymington Community Centre have come together again to welcome everyone to this FREE family summer event on Sunday 4th August at Woodside Park, Lymington called “Woodside Picnic in the Park”.
Live music will be strumming throughout the day, with 2 sessions of a fun dog show, a sports day for all ages and abilities, kiddies funfair, 2 bird display sessions and an array of market stalls. Bring your own picnics are welcomed, but an array of hot and cold food and drinks will be on site for those who wish to just turn up and enjoy the day. If you are interested in having a market stall, please email marketing@lymingtoncommunity.com in the first instance.
Free carparking is available off Ridgeway Lane.
The events starts at 11am and will finish at 4pm.

At the Planning Committee Meeting held on January 17th January 2024 applications relating to the strategic site ‘SS6’ were deferred, pending further consultee responses.
The applications will be discussed by the Town Council Planning Committee at a later date, when responses are received, before going to NFDC Committee.
HCC Update on Avenue Road Crossing
/Hampshire County Council have been trying to recruit a replacement School Patrol but, so far, have not had any interest in the post.
There are ongoing discussions at Hampshire County Council to improve the road safety for the school. Cllr Dunning, the Hampshire County Councillor, has confirmed funding sources are being obtained and there is a high degree of certainty that the delivery of an item of infrastructure will result.
Citizen of the Year Award
/At the last Council meeting on Wednesday 13 December, The Lymington and Pennington Citizen of the Year Award for 2023 went to Stephen Green for his work with the New Forest Litter Pickers.
A special mention to the other nominees Carole Nash, Tracy Robertson and Fiona Anderson for all the work they do in the Community.

ADVANCE WARNING - 2023 CHRISTMAS LIGHT INSTALLATION AT QUAY HILL/STREET
/Please be advised that contractors have confirmed they anticipate installing the ceiling of lights at Quay Hill/Street on Wednesday 15th November from 17.00-18:00, with it taking approximately 4-5 hours to complete. This will also extend over to the evening of the 16th November ay Quay Street.

Citizen of the Year Award 2023
/Nominate your Lymington and Pennington Citizen of the Year
Lymington and Pennington Town Council would like to invite residents to nominate individuals who they feel have made a big contribution to the local community. This is being recognized through the 2023 Citizen of Year award.
In Lymington and Pennington there are many individuals who volunteer their time and expertise for the good of the community, or add social, cultural, economic, or environmental value to the town.
The Policy and Resources committee resolved in October 2023 to introduce a Citizen of the Year award annually, to recognise and celebrate those individuals. The winner will be selected by a Citizens Award sub-committee and be announced at the Christmas Council meeting, this year held on 13th December 2023.

Annual Governance & Accountability Return (AGAR)

Annual Governance & Accountability Return
The Local Audit & Accountability Act 2014 and the Accounts & Audit Regulations 2015 set out the responsibilities of all local councils in respect of their accounting and auditing procedures.
Each year, the Council’s financial accounts and statements must be examined by an independent internal auditor appointed by the Council. For the year 2022/23 Hampshire County Council were appointed under the operational name of Southern Internal Audit Partnership.
The Council is also required to complete an Annual Governance & Accountability Return (AGAR) which includes the findings of the Internal Auditor, together with Governance Statements and Financial Statements. The AGAR is then submitted to the independent external auditor appointed by the Audit Commission for examination.
A summary of this year’s audit process is detailed below, together with copies of the relevant documents.
Year Ending 31st March 2023
The Council’s Financial Statements and Annual Governance & Accountability Return (AGAR) submission for the year-ending 31st March 2023 had been checked by Southern Internal Audit Partnership and subsequently approved by the Full Council at its meeting held on 21st June 2023.
The completed AGAR, together with the relevant supporting documentation, has now been submitted to the external auditor, BDO LLP who are required to complete their review by 30th September 2023.
Following this submission, Lymington and Pennington Town Council are publishing the Notice of Public Rights and Publication of the Unaudited Annual Governance & Accountability Return along with sections 1 and 2 of the AGAR –Annual Governance Statement 2022/23 (Section 1) and Accounting Statements 2022/23 (Section 2) with the Summary of Your Rights stating that any person interested has a right to inspect and make copies of the accounting records for the 2022/23 Financial Year. This will run for a period of six weeks commencing on 3rd July 2023 to 11th August 2023. Any person who wishes to review the documentation is advised to contact the Responsible Finance Officer.
BDO LLP are due to complete their audit of the AGAR for 2022/23 by the 30th September 2023. The report will be published soon after with the audited AGAR being available for public access for a period of not less than 5 years from the date of publication stated above.
